Children’s cancer kills more children than all other diseases combined. That is why KDCCP raises money in support of the Pediatric Hematology Oncology Fellowship Program at OHSU Doernbecher Children’s HospitalThe Fellowship program, year after year, trains the next generation of children’s cancer specialists. They stand on the shoulders of the doctors that came before them and each year they push the science forward.

How fortunate we have all been that medicine has advanced the way it has over the last 50 years! Our children and grandchildren are much more likely to survive cancer than we were and their children or grandchildren may live in a world where children’s cancer doesn’t exist.

Whether this happens or not and when it happens depends upon the continuing exponential growth of knowledge in clinical research and treatment therapies that results from the current system of training doctors who will treat patients, conduct research, lead clinical trials and train other doctors.
