Dr. Evan Shereck provided us with this month’s update:
The Fellowship Program welcomed 2 new fellows – Andrew Gledhill and Austin Healy.

Andrew Gledhill

Andrew graduated from West Virginia University School of Medicine and completed his pediatric residency at Baylor College of Medicine- San Antonio, Texas Campus.

Austin Healy

Austin graduated from the American University of the Carribean School of Medicine and completed his pediatric residency at Texas Tech University.

Amanda Johnson

Amanda Johnson (now a 3rd year fellow) was chosen as this year’s recipient for the pediatric fellow humanism award. This was voted on by the pediatric residents. She certainly inspires everyone with whom she works and teaches.

Patrick DeMartino

Not only did Patrick DeMartino have a paper published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) on gene therapy and sickle cell- but his article was selected as being so critical that an editorial by a different author was also written highlighting how important Pat’s work is.  Read it here!

Sadly, this is the time of year when we normally say goodbye to our fellows. Luckily, Pat and Flo are both sticking around (at least for a little longer). Patrick DeMartino is joining our pediatric hematology/oncology faculty at Doernbecher. He will be concentrating his efforts on bone marrow transplant and hematology while continuing his important work on health economics and finishing up his masters of public health degree.

Florence Choo

Florence Choo will be starting a new attending position at Rocky Mountain Children’s Hospital in Denver, CO in January 2022. Until then, she will be staying on with us to learn more about bone marrow transplant.

We thank them all for their hard work as we push to end children’s cancer forever! Join our work with a donation today!
